Update! but the greatest of these is....
💝
It's been a minute I haven't spent some good time on here. Don't worry I've been up to good! lol I've been spending some good quality time with God and trying to manage my time. Valentine has just passed, and I used my break from work today to reflect on the matter of love and while doing that, some questions came up in my head. This is a safe space and yes, we can talk like family so loosen up as you read. You know I'm big on love and once God presents me with the right people I don't half love, I love whole heartedly with commitment, trust and respect. Over the years growing up, love wasn't necessarily displayed to me thoroughly, so I didn't know how to receive it or give it properly. It wasn't until I was about 12 years old when I received Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour, and I began studying the word, that God began to change my heart on loving people and loving myself. In 1 Cor. 13:13 I believe God said love was the greatest, because he knew, that was the one that we would take longer to get right and that it would be a real form of our demonstration of our love for him.
I am far from being perfect, in fact, I am so hard on myself to get this love thing right. However, I choose to want to love that way because it's what makes the world a better place, it's what keeps this chaotic world at peace. 1 Cor 13:1 expounds on what a waste it is, if we don't have love. In other words, it describes it as an empty barrel if we don't have love... no value! I totally agree. Some of our hearts can be so cold. We want to be going out on food drives to show the world we are giving so much but we cannot live in peace with our brothers and sisters. What a shame!
Verse 2 also continues to share that even if we possess power, if we don't have love, it still doesn't mean anything. There are countless examples of people in high positions, who cannot get the respect they deserve because they display no love to others at all. I mean, they are talented, they are financially well off, they are popular, but they have no love. All of that means nothing. We should all strife to have love more than anything else in this world.
I mentioned earlier that a few questions were on my mind. One of the questions I thought about was how much of love should we give? When I read verses 4 and 5 of 1 Corinthians, it says that love is enduring for a very long time, it is kind, it doesn't envy, it's not boastful, prideful, selfish or has a bad mind. So, if we are wondering how much of love can we give? Exercise all these virtues. Use it as a blueprint. I don't think these will steer us wrong. I pondered upon another question. Can we love too much? If you are in a romantic relationship and you are over giving of yourself in an unhealthy way, if it is draining and exhausting, you may need to review if it is really love or just an unhealthy attachment. When it comes to relations with other people, ensure to create boundaries when offering your time and resources. Everything should have balance.
Love is for people who want to grow and invest in meaningful relationships. understanding love matures us emotionally, physically mentally even socially. It's not for the weak or for people who want to stay with a childish, mind and it says it in verse 11. As a matter of fact, in verse 12 it highlights knowing love well enough, that we will begin to see a reflection of God and our self, until we can see him face to face.
I believe the matter on love goes further than the capacity of my mind and understanding. It is my hope that God continues to show me more examples of love until the day that I die. I want to love like him. We should want to love like him!
Happy late Love Day!💓
